WEATHER FORCAST for highway 81 south or highway driving

Hi,

We plan to drive south from Canada to Florida via route 81 south around
middle of December, as airlines won’t accept pets when it is cold. My
concern is the weather conditions in the  mountains in Pennsylvania and
Virginia.

I won’t have snowtires as they can melt in warm weather.

Where can I find driving conditions for the these mountains without d\l
some web site which will give you a tool bar?

Before I leave, I would like to know the chance of snow or freezing
rain in those  mountains along the way.

Kindly reply by posting only.

The Nat. Wx. Service is quite good at local forecasts:

Your tires won’t melt in warm weather.

    Thanks Floyd for the map.

I was told by the Toyota car Dealer  and other  tire store not to  use
    snowtires down south in Florida.

To whom ever is interested. I stumbled accross this map that lets you
pick a route and gives you weather forcasts along the route.

    No further posts are needed.

Well, they will wear more and probably give a little less performance
on dry roads, but they won’t "melt".

What about 2pm in the middle of August on a road in Death Valley then? ;)

Some states don’t allow studded snow tires.
