What do you do as far as routine maintainence is concerned. Do you do more
or less than you owner’s manual recommends. Specific examples would be
appreciated.

I follow the owner’s manual religiously (ie. all recommended servicing
is performed within 1000 km of the mileage mentioned in the book) and
the service shop’s recommended _regular_ servicing not at all. So
this means that when my car goes in for work, I have a list of items
that gets done. No more, no less.
However, if the shop finds something unusual, I’ll usually trust their
judgement. It’s a risk, I know, but I don’t know enough to dispute
their claims.
