What is happening in France has been brewing in Old Europe for years. The BBC speaks of “youths” venting their “anger.”
The BBC is wrong. It is not anger that is driving the insurgents to take it out on the secularised welfare states of Old
Europe. It is hatred. Hatred caused not by injustice suffered, but stemming from a sense of superiority. The “youths” do
not blame the French, they despise them.

Gives rise to a question that has been dogging me the last couple of
days: Given our tendency a humans on this planet to not learn our
lessons from history and definitely be damned to history repeating
itself, does anybody have any estimates on just how many of our GI’s
will have to die this time around in having to bail France out *yet
again*?

None. Do you actually think either side would ask our help? Perhaps, as long
as they don’t burn anything of historic interest, it’s better to just let them
fight it out.
Somebody in another group said "If both sides are French, to whom will they
surrender?" One wonders.

Since when does that stop us?

And you know as well as I do that we won’t sit still and let it go on
too long. Atleast as long as "W," is in office. (Question: does the
"W," in "George W. Bush," stand for "warmonger?")

Good question, but the imigrant side is generally not French to begin
with and has no allegiance to the nation to speak of. That they live in
France is a mere detail.

<Ponder> I think we’re more likely to join the squabble if we already have
something to lose or gain thereby. In this one we stand to lose wine, cheese
and skiing. Is that enough? Time will tell…

A parallel situation might be the Mexicans (both legal and illegal) in
California. I would guess that your allegiance belongs to where your family
lives. Since many of them are French citizens, I would assume that they have
few remaining ties to Algeria, although that’s probably a really shaky assumption.

Depends on who is calling the shots (pardon the pun) at the time. Don’t
know if bush is into wine, cheese or skiing, but if there is a drop of
oil there…

Except alot of them have the strongest tie of all: religion. I usually
don’t care for his opinions, but Cal Thomas has a good article on this
situation in Sunday’s paper (atleast the one I read). Alot of islamic
fanatiacs are making their way to France pushing the radical form of
islam that our *good friends* the Saudis preach…

Olive oil, but we have plenty of that too… Does butter count as an oil?

I read that. He sounded a bit hysterical, but I certainly can’t show that
he’s wrong. It would be interesting to know more about the woman with the
wardrobe malfunction. Was she just going along with hubby, or was she a true
believer? Or did she possibly gimmick her belt and rejoice that she was no
longer tied to that jerk?

Um, cars? No, wait, French rioters. Well, some of them have cars, don’t they?

One step at a time. First the Germans have to invade, "for the
security of the continent".

My guess would be option 2.

Incomparably evil, unless it was an SUV protest. All good ecologists like SUV
protests.
