Nice cite, which of course doesn’t contradict anything I’ve said.
And I note you don’t even try to demonstrate that you even understand
it…
Guess you are still feeling a bit insecure from being stepped on.
Sorry about that, but this won’t help.

Sure it does Floyd. Anyone interested can check the google archive
themselves and see your views, which nearly everyone in the thread
disagreed with, and rightly so.
See thread titled "Emergency call question" started on 1-7-07 by me.

Sure I do Floyd. It says that out of the about 100 firefighters who die
each year in the line of duty, neary half are caused by heart disease.
The firefighter featured was only 45 when he had his while fighting
a fire–the guy looks at least 55 to me, even though he’s only 47 or
48.
"About 70 percent of fire departments don’t have programs to promote
fitness, according to the Quincy-based National Fire Protection
Association."

No you didn’t.
Now that you are goaded into it, you make another lame illogical
attempt as distorting what the facts indicate. But again, it is
just clueless…

All of that is of course true. But you would have us believe it
means the average firefighter is a sickly, unfit example of
humanity? You, however, are logically challenged.
The fact is that if you took a large group of "average
Americans" an exposed them to the same conditions, there would
be a significantly larger percentage of deaths.
That is because, as a rule, firefighters are in better physical
condition than non-firefighters.

I never stated these words. This is just your strawman. But the fact is
that too many firefighters are simply not up to snuff when it comes
to what is often needed in their line of work.

Really? Evidence? But even if you had evidence to site, it makes
little difference, as these ‘"average Americans" are not in the
firefighting/lifesaving line of work….work which requires
frequent physical efforts in adverse conditions.

Logically you are a mess Bobby. Did you have a point?

And the reason this is cross-posted to REC (for ‘recreation’).AUTOS
(for ‘automobiles’).DRIVING (for, umm, ‘driving’?) is …
Let’s see … heart attacks – nope. Sedentary firefighters – nope.
Moron posting irrelevant personal attacks – yup.
Just checking. Proceed, gentlemen.

IIRC, this is the guy (Floyd) who *isn’t* a firefighter *and* had no idea
what the terms "Toughest two minutes in sport" or "Combat Challenge" was…
I think all of us in gear know what the value of his opinions are.

Except the discussion did *not* relate to fighting fires,
firefighter training, or anything else unique to fire or being a
firefighter. Your comment is just as illogical as Bobby’s.
The topic was EMS, EMS response, scene control and various
medical effects. Those are all areas where my experience and
training is much greater than is common for an average
firefighter. It appears to be an area where neither you nor
Bobby have any training at all.
There is a vast difference between your being trained to follow
orders when on scene, and the State level of management for
training and certification of those who actually manage scenes.
