Hewitt, 34, of Caribou, pleaded guilty last month to manslaughter in the
crash, which caused the death of Tina Turcotte, 40, of Scarborough.

"The death caused by Mr. Hewitt was a needless tragedy, and it is my sincere
wish that he never get behind the wheel of any motor vehicle ever again, in
Maine or any other state," Dunlap said Wednesday in a statement.

Hewitt.s driving record, which included 63 convictions, 23 license suspensions
and a previous fatal crash, outraged many Mainers and prompted the Legislature
to crack down on motorists with suspended licenses who refuse to stop driving.

Talk about crazy. Anyone caught driving with a suspended license should do
at least a year in prison.  And if a driver kills someone while his license
is suspended, he should be executed. I’m no coddler.

Good Lord…63 convictions, 23 suspensions, one revocation and two
fatals (in probably 18 years given his current age), and the
scheiskopf gets 30 months?  At the risk of agreeing with Aunt Judy,
this is criminal coddling.  People get longer terms and higher fines
    just for trash-talking gays.

The politicians and judges should also have their law licenses
revoked, but the likelihood of that is as high as the pigs in Congress
    voting for a salary cut.

Let’s be fair.  All those convictions and suspensions could be due to
being randomly selected to pay speed taxes and the fatal crashes
wholly the fault of sloths and/or speed or red light cameras.
