DUI with THREE priors kills two women

How many times does this have to be explained? Drunk drivers can’t be
cured. One conviction and you should forever lose all driving
privilieges. But criminal coddler america won’t take that step.

Man Pleads Guilty In Fatal Driveway Crash Fri Mar 24, 6:38 PM ET

A repeat drunken driver pleaded guilty Friday in the deaths of two
women, KMBC’s Peggy Breit reported.

Michael "Nick" Vinzant was 18 last September when he plowed his pickup
truck into a car that was pulling out of a driveway on Northeast
Russell Road. Two female cousins in the car, Suzanne Miller and Gloria
Rios, were killed.

Vinzant had three prior convictions for drunken driving. In a Clay
County courtroom Friday, he pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter
and two drug charges.

Vinzant faces 30 years in prison, a sentence family and friends said
he accepts because he feels so guilty.

8 drinks in seven hours.  A man his size can metabolize about one drink per
hour, so you haven’t proven he was drunk.

You’re right. Bush’s DUI conviction should have disqualified him from
    running for any office.

LOL!  Yeah, 8 drinks if you believe Teddy who said he had TWO drinks in
3 hours and 45 minutes…. of course he had 6 drink in 2.5 hours before
that….   Every watch cops?   Every drunk asshole they pull over

Everyone who answers claims they have had two drinks — but that
doesn’t mean a large number of them aren’t telling the truth.

This is what happens when you waste police resources enforcing a .08 limit.
Instead of getting the truly dangerous drivers off the road, the ones that you
always read have multiple times the BAC limit, they harass all drivers on a
road by setting up road blocks.

No, his stupidity should have done that.  Unfortunately he was smart enough to

Let’s see:  one brother killed in WWII.  One brother who served in WWII, in
the Senate, and is regarded as one of our most beloved Presidents.  And one
brother who fought organized crime, stood up for civil rights, and was
    murdered while running for President.

Don’t really see the selfish part in there.  Can your family claim anywhere
    near this level of accomplishment?

    Can any?

At least in Southern California, MADD spends their money on them, and
all they catch is the uninsured / unregistered / unlicensed drivers
usually.  Something like 40 impounds and 1 DUI arrest in a night are
quite common around here, but I won’t complain about them taking
uninsured / unlicensed / unregistered drivers off the road.

I know they should bother me, but at least they’re catching some of
the illegal drivers on the road.  Given the problems caused to me by
uninsured drivers (hit by one, sued because one said a name like mine,
witnessed multiple collisions caused by), that makes me happy more
than the inconvenience makes me mad.

I know it’s basically a papers check, but if it’s the only way to get
our cops to do something I guess I don’t care anymore.  It’s better
than the police ignoring the problem entirely.

That and I live along major transit routes, so when I go out for beers
with The Guys I never have to get behind a wheel.  It’s a good
    thing.(/martha)

No – a waste of police resources is the War on Drugs in which  people
get tossed in prison 20 years for just walking down a street with some
illegal drug in their pocket.  OTOH drunk drivers are killers and
maimers and we need  ZERO  tolerance for them.  You should lose your DL
forever if your bac is .01.  Stop being a criminal coddler.

No it isn’t better.  A road block is the brute force method of enforcing
these laws.  It makes as much sense as using a tractor trailer to haul
home your one case of beer.   If the cops were on the road watching for
poor drivers, they would catch the truly bad drivers.

If you can spot them, then the cops who are paying attention and doing
their job properly would also spot them.  You should be especially pissed
off when they use a road block to catch these folks because they are
    inconveniencing you unecessarily.
