Actually it’s in the first paragraph of the report. The wrong-way
driver died in the crash.

IIRC the passenger was in the other vehicle (the SUV the wrong-way guy
hit). The SUV driver might have been distracted by his passenger, or
the passenger was sleeping at the time.

Quite possible. Given the speed the idiot was going (he did outrun
the cops), not necessarily one, but possible.
