My wife was ticketed over three months ago for failing to turn left from
a left turn lane. She did initially go into the lane, but when she noticed
the sign showing it was a left turn lane she moved back into the through
lane and continued on through the junction. There was hardly any traffic
around so she did not interfere with any traffic during this maneuver.
She got a ticket along with many others who made the same mistake, although
most of the others did not move out of the lane as quickly as my wife. (She
was in an unfamiliar area, so she didn’t know that this was a left turn lane.)
I’m going to court with her for support and was wondering about tactics.
I have to assume that the officer can not remember any "details" of when she
entered and exited the turn lane. If he says he does, I guess I could ask
him that is he remebers these details so well, what was the color of the car,
and how many passengers were in it.
Any comments would be appreciated. Am I dreaming to think that this will be
fair? Can I videotape the proceedings?
