Castrol Syntec Oil, Any Problems, Good Points, etc.

Our site just started to get this news group, so this question
might have been asked before — But I’m going to ask it agian since I
don’t have it.
(if it has; could some one send me the results)

In group misc.consumers, I heard some bad things about
SLICK-50, so my next solution was to get any information on
synthetic oils.  Theirfore, Castrol Syntec oil comes to mind. Note,
this the oil advertized on TV, where they pour the oil into
the car and let it drain through — they do this with other
oils as well for comparison — Then they start the engines
without any Oil — Syntec Oiled Engine stays on longer than
any other oil.
Now my question is to get some "experianced" knowledge from
the net. about this product — good points or bad.

The car I intend to use it for has 13,000 miles, is a Mazda
minivan, but is giving poor gas mileage (14/18 per gallon) and is
running rougher than previously.  Since the oil is also 5w-50 grade,
which is recommended for winters, it is an ideal for it (i.e.
killing three birds with one stone).   So the basic question is it,
are their any negative points in using this Oil unlike the
additive Slick-50.

Thanks to all in advance for their input and help. Any
alternate suggestions for the Oil would also be welcome.
