WRONG! Dangerous in the snow without the proper tires.  Excellent
in the snow with the proper tires.  Nokia snows are recommended.

I have two years living in VERY snowy western NY to prove this.
One year, on performance tires, the car was nearly undrivable.
I could not get up the hill I lived on in a 2′ snow.  The next
year I had Nokia’s on and could drive with the best of them.  
Snows deeper than the previous year’s disaster were no problem.

There is an article in the MT issue this month about the new (95) 318
(Compact?).  It is a hatch back vehicle with a more spirited engine
(a 130 HP 4 banger, vs the ~100 HP in the 318).  It sounds pretty
good to me, more HP, about the same interior space and possibly cost
less!  What more could you ask for.  I can’t wait to see it arrive
the show room at my local dealer.

It is a great car.  Everything about it is perfect: the way it sounds,
they way it feels, the feedback it gives the driver, etc.  The only
grievance I have with it is that it is underpowered.  Go for the 325
if you can, it is definitately worth it.
