More information I should have posted:

The detector is in pristine condition.  It has the original box and
all packing material, all of the attachments including the case, the
original receipt, and 2 1/2 years left on the three year warranty.  It
was a birthday present but wasn’t needed.

I’m asking $215 +shipping.  If you’re interested, let me know.

    Mitch.

Car and Driver had a review of the car, in the last 9 mo. Forgot the
exact month. Their basic impression (and mine from reading it) is that
it is a high-powered family car with a nice paint job (like the Grand
National). I almost bought a GN in ’88 til I saw the interior. Sheesh.
I think they need to give thier engineers a *long* vacation.

I imagine that the local dealers will sell them for what the market will bear
during the initial frenzy.  It might save you some bucks to let the hoopla
    die.

But the LT1 engine is a good one – I’m very happy with mine.

I am surprised to see the ads around for this car, I thought they
limited production to 5000 units. I would have thought they
would have sold this many very quickly.

BTW, can you buy Hoosier street tires now? I heard they may be
producing some. I think some black Nascar style racing wheels
and a set of Hoosiers would look great on this car!

I think the first run (of all black cars) was a limited run to see how
well it sold, but it looks like it will be a regualar line now. I
think I heard you will have 3 color chosses too, though I don’t know
what they will be. Ummm…. black, black, or black :)

    For starters:
    .98 g on the skid-pad
60 to O in 113 feet ( thats better than most cars under the 2
    tonne weight class.

I think what it needs is " tunning " to increase the power to
the 300 hp range of the Vette, after all it is a heavier car.
I think a less restrictive air intake housing and manifold are
part of the reason for the lower numbers.  Being the owener of
police spec caprice myself, I can tell you that nothing
compares to the feeling of driving a BIG and powerfull car and
scarring the $#@# out of unsuspecting camaros or stangs.  I
hope you buy it, and If you do I hope to here about your
    driving impressions of the car.

    Happy Speeding!!!

Whoa!  where did you hear that?  Motor Trend only got .83g out of the SS
they tested.  You sure that wasn’t a *banked* skidpad? :-)

Maybe he meant after those hoosiers were put on :)

            btw, C&D got .86g

STill, 0-60in 6.5 seconds is fairly impressive for a 4200lb
btw: that brake test either was bogus, or was in kph.
                    C&D got a 70-0 distance of 179ft.

So there I was, snuggled in the leather seat of my brand new Ferrari.
I had the oiled wooden gear shift in one hand, and the leather wrapped
Momo in the other.  I had the stereo cranking _Born to be Wild_…
Only two problems, I was upside down, and under six feet of water…

    >For starters:

For your information this is considerably better than the NSX,
    Supra, MR-2, RX-7, 300ZX, Corvette, 3000GT, and the 911…  I think
that bit of information is just a tad inflated.  Now, bare in mind here
the car is at least a few hundred pounds heavier than the heaviest car
I mentioned, and practically a ton heavier than the lightest.  Not to
    mention a much softer suspension.

    >60 to O in 113 feet ( thats better than most cars under the 2
    >tonne weight class.

Yet another slightly exaggerated fact.  This is considerably
better than most sporty cars I can think of, and in fact the RX-7 which
is 1500 lbs lighter and has larger breaks only stops in about 6 feet less
from 60mph.  I don’t believe this one either.

    >I think what it needs is " tunning " to increase the power to
    >the 300 hp range of the Vette, after all it is a heavier car.

Yep… 260hp ain’t all that much for a 2 ton tub.  My car only
has 100, but then, its half the weight.  Can you imagine the way an RX-7
would trash this, same power output, and a good 1,500 lighter.

    >I think a less restrictive air intake housing and manifold are
    >part of the reason for the lower numbers.  Being the owener of

Sounds about right.  The 275hp LT1 Camaro engine is primarily
weakened by a more restrictive exhaust.

    >police spec caprice myself, I can tell you that nothing

            Police spec Caprice…  Woooooooweeee… I’m scared now…  The
car is a tub, and the power hits the pavement through a slush-box.  My
little Prelude could easily outhandle your Caprice.  And I bet something
like a Prelude VTEC (with its paltry 4 cylinder engine) could trash
    your car (or the Impalla).

    >compares to the feeling of driving a BIG and powerfull car and
    >scarring the $#@# out of unsuspecting camaros or stangs.  I

Some how I suspect a Camaro Z28 has quite a bit better handling
and more power/weight than your Caprice (especially when mated to a 6
speed manual).  I have seen cop cars, they aren’t that special.  I mean,
hell they have 70 series tires on Taurus’s in DC.  If I were driving a
car like that, I’d want at least 50 series (but the poor cop wouldn’t be
    as comfortable then).
