Well, the powers that be created an interesting situation down here in
San Diego when they arbitrarily lowered a speed limit. The road in question
is a wide four-lane with a fence between it and the freeway on one side
and a sidewalk separating it from the bushes on the other side. The speed
limit used to be 50mph which was lower than necessary, but they lowered it
to 40mph.
The problem is, shortly after you pass the 40mph speed limit sign you
encounter one of those yellow advisory signs for a nice sweeping curve
that recommends a speed of 45mph for the curve.
"Honest, officer, I was going 40mph but I had to speed up for the curve!"
