Europe Develops INDESTRUCTIBLE Speed Camera

I’m all for catching these kid-killing and kid-krippling speeders but i
wish they’d hit these deadly criminals with jail time and license
suspension instead of fines. Fines = criminal coddling and i’m no coddler.

Indestructible! The speed camera that will defy bombs and bulldozers
By BEN CLERKIN –  29th August 2007

They have been demolished with diggers, destroyed by fire and even blown
up with explosives by angry motorists.

Now a speed camera billed as the toughest in the world has been designed
in an attempt to repel vandals.

The device towers 13ft above the road and features strengthened glass as
well as a fire-resistant body and a stiffened steel base.

The 13ft speed camera is designed to survive attacks by vandals

It is fitted with smoke and vibration sensors which can detect an attack.

If someone does try to damage the camera, it triggers an alarm at the
nearest police station and automatically downloads all its vital digital
photographic data back to base so that no evidence is lost.

The camera’s enforcement technology is just as hi-tech.

It can monitor four lanes of traffic at once, take front and rear facing
images and, unlike the UK’s current fixed speed cameras, can patrol both
sides of the road simultaneously.

The IDEE machine – it stands for Innovative Digital Enforcement
Environment – is already in use in Holland. According to the car
magazine Auto Express, the Dutch manufacturer is hoping to bring it to
the UK.

Are you Driving Drunk If You Are Steering The Car But A Friend is Operating the Pedals??

Man with no legs and his friend cited for DUI
Police: Wisc. amputee steered while buddy worked the pedals

Updated: 2:50 p.m. MT Aug 29, 2007

ABBOTSFORD, Wis. – Police in Wisconsin have cited a legless man and his
friend on a drunken driving charge, saying the amputee was at the wheel
while his friend worked the pedals.

It was the third and second such arrests for the men, respectively.

Police say the amputee was sitting in the driver’s seat and told
officers he had too much to drink. But he argued he wasn’t really
driving since the other man was on the brake and accelerator.

Both men also were cited for driving after their licenses had been revoked.

Police say a third man in the truck, who was also drunk, walked himself
home after the traffic stop.

Both are guilty. Case closed. I’m no coddler.

$124 ticket for honking (Washington state)

 From Fark:

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/329092_honk27.html

So why didn’t the police officer cite the first vehicle with obstructing
traffic (or the equivalent offense)?  Because the instigator of a
traffic situation is never at fault; only the person who decides to do
something about it.
