Kansas City rush hour question?

I am going to Kansas City this week under a
tight schedule and am going to Wardway Plaza
shopping Center (on Wardway Parkway) during
the evening rush hour (coming from I35 from
Iowa). What would be the quickest route–so as
not to get caught in traffic jams? [I was thinking
all the way around on I435 and then back up
off exit 75A, then north on Wornell. Any big
construction there...]

Thanks

Car auctions in the US?

Hi all…

Just wanted to ask if you have such things as car auctions in  the US?
(Im a UK based Brit)

Not just auctions for governmental car stock, but also open to private
sellers of vehicles.

cheers.

What If?

What if I were a cop, and I decided to stop EVERY driver for EVERY
vehicle code violation I observed. No front license plate? Pull ‘em
over. Too loud exhaust? I’m writin’ you up. I’d write a shitload of
tickets, but how would my superiors rate my job performance? Is there
some (un)written code that says I need to let the "minor" offenses go
and concentrate on the "serious" ones (like speeding)?

Dumb Parent/Kid

Yesterday evening my wife and I were sitting on the front porch. As the
adjacent corn fields haven’t been harvested as yet, we can only see about
200-250 yards up the road to the north. We heard high engine noise and I
told my wife that someone was really moving. It was two cars, apparently
racing, and one slipped off the narrow road and flipped directly across from
us. I actually saw the bottom of the car about 10 feet in the air. I told my
wife to call 911 and I went down to the wreck. The two kids were bruised and
battered but no fatalities. The other car had turned around and came back.
The kid driving looked awfully young to be driving, turned out to be 14. He
was getting back is his car and said "Dad said I have to be home before
dark". I told him he wasn’t going anywhere until the cops got here and I
reached in and got his keys which I gave to the officers, who arrived within
10 minutes. Some of what I picked up by listening to the investigating
officers; speeding, drag racing, no insurance, no driver’s license, leaving
scene of accident involving injury, probation violation (don’t know what
for), and his car was towed to the impound. He left in the back of the
police car. The paramedics transported the other cars occupants, I assume to
a hospital. No parents showed up at scene.

Got a call about 20 min. ago. Insurance investigator wants a statement as to
what we witnessed. Told him no thanks. If litigation results they can
subpoena us.

Are illegal aliens really such dangerous drivers ?

Everybody says so but if i was an illegal i’d be super careful to not
get pulled over for anything!!!

I’m all for booting the illegals out of america, but this bad driving
charge may be BS.

Silver cars in rain and fog

I have noticed that percentage wise the drivers of silver vehicles
are far less inclined to turn on any lights at all in bad weather
daytime conditions. Any explaination??

It kinda ticks me off for two reasons,
1 You can’t see them, or at least are far more likely not to
see a silver car blending with the asphalt and clouded sky.

2 Here in Pennsylvania they passed a law about 2 years ago that
states "Lights on with the wipers", which formerly applied
nationwide and federally only to commercial trucks.

I have never ever seen a state or local cop pull a passenger vehicle
over for this ‘no lights’ condition, but if you do it in a big rig
they will bust you in a heartbeat.

I got into a shouting match with a cop one time and he replied
‘I don’t have time to arrest everyone who drives without lights
in the rain’. Well, let’s see, idiots don’t know they are in the
wrong, and who will tell them? Also, it would maybe bolster the income
of local police forces if you actually set out to fine people who
are unaware of laws being broken (a.k.a. assholes/criminals) and
local forces could hire back the officers they have laid off.

N.J. police object to stop of 95-mph convoy
Officers heading home from Katrina duty got warning, then got mad

<snip>

Virginia State Police said they logged "numerous" 911 calls early
Sept. 18 from motorists complaining about marked cars from the Passaic
County Sheriff’s Office and Wayne Police Department driving
dangerously near Weyers Cave.

With Virginia State Police troopers busy working other cases, only
Augusta County Deputy Mike Roane was available to answer the call.
Roane averted a potential disaster, Fisher said, after clocking the
convoy’s lead car at 95 mph.

"Five or six of them did not stop, they just continued northbound,"
the Augusta sheriff added. "I think they were in a hurry to get home."

<snip>

That same day, Virginia troopers patrolling the state’s southwestern
interstate roads pulled over a roughly 80-car convoy of New York
police homebound from Katrina relief, Geller said. That group stuck to
the speed limit, though troopers asked them to stay out of the left
lane.

Speziale told Roane that "law enforcement is all about supporting each
other"
