Those small projector headlights on a lot of Acuras, BMWs, etc. are
supposed to give a brighter, focused beam that helps the driver, but
what about other people’s ability to see you? Being seen can be as
important as seeing the road. A lot of times they look like evil snake
eyes that don’t really want to be noticed.

From a distance on an empty road it can be harder to judge approach
time when you’re used to a fatter profile. In a rainstorm I mistook a
pair for two motorcycles much farther away. In fog or snow I wouldn’t
want projector headlights even if they allowed me to see a little
better. Do they even work better for the driver in fog? They are also
dimmer than standard headlights when not seen straight on. They look
high tech but aren’t they less safe from a "being seen" perspective?

I’ve been seeing this alot in my area lately and it’s becoming a new major pet
peeve.  Cop pulls somebody over in the burbs, and the car pulls over
and stops in the middle of a turn lane.  What really jerks my chain is that the
cop always stops behind the person and proceeds to ticket them or whatever.  He
never makes them pull out of traffic they just pretend not to notice the cars
veering around them.  I know that cops know better!  What the heck’s up with
that?

In my current daily drive I have a 6 mile upgrade posted 6 and 7%.  By
playing with the throttle at the bottom I can climb that in my Ford 500
– 6 speed auto (2 overdrive gears) in either 4th or 5th at 55 mph.
Above that I am stuck with 4th.

In 4th I pull about 2850 rpm with the tranny on the hair edge of
upshifting to 5th Or
In 5th I pull about 2100 rpm with the tranny on the hair edge of
downshifting to 4th.

At first glance it, since the throttle is depressed further in 5th,
that 4th would use less gas.  But would it?  In 5th the engine is
working harder (thus presumeably more efficiently) but also turning a
lot fewer revs during the 6 miles.

I wish I had a fuel totalizer/econo gauge or whatever those things are.
 It would be an interesting set of figures.

The other night while driving to dinner, I came across a cluster of
cars in the right hand lane, and the left hand lane, for once, was
empty. As I approached the cluster, the rear most car drifted left,
*very* slowly, and stopped drifting when it was straddling both lanes,
preventing my passing. We were flowing with the traffic signals,
fortunately. After several blocks, the retarded bitch straddling the
lanes decided to continue her leftward drift, and finally secured her
place in the left lane. She then micro-passed a large SUV (suburban
sized) and as we approached the next intersection, she did a "power
move" to achieve her position in the right lane, then slammed on the
brakes to being her right turn off of the roadway; the SUV almost ate
her retarded ass up. Too bad the SUV driver didn’t cream the retarded
bitch; we’ve got enough stupidity in the world as it is.
