Good driving roads

Does anyone know any good fun driving roads in the Bay Area? You know, something
with a good amount of curves, good pavement, no too dangerous and especially
NO COPS. A place where to can test your cars capabilities…….

Not that I would do anything illegal on them :)

What is a safe Pass?

A question regarding an argument I had with a "person" that
happened to pull me over!

I was going down a road (speed limit 45) behind a car doing 40.

It was at night and I came upon a passing zone.  Sped up to 50 and started
to pass the car.  The nose of my car was about 1 foot ahead of the other
car when the passing zone ended.  I finished the pass since I thought that
I could _finish_ a pass in a no passing zone.  Then I was pulled over by a
nice CT state cop.  Very polite.  Didn’t even beat me!

What is the law on this?  Can you finish a pass or do you have to put on
the brakes and pull back behind the other car?

It seems to me that it depends on the situation.  I am sure that in some
cases it would be safer to complete the pass; rather than slamming on brakes
and slowing down.

Also, do you get any points for a written warning (for passing in a no passing
zone)?

Cost to fix Rear Bumper

What’s a ballpark figure for fixing a rear bumper on
a car such as an 90ish Reliant?  It doesn’t look
to be too bad, the bumper just seems to be pushed in a bit.
I would like to know so that I don’t get quoted some
ridiculous figure.  Any info would be GREATLY appreciated.

*****SYNTHETIC OIL AND ROTARY ENGINES*****

I was looking for an RX7 last weekend and received the following
advice.  Please let me know whether there is any truth to it.

"Synthetic oil can not be used in the RX7 engine because
        1) The oil is used in injection (fuel?) to create a film
of protection for the engin, and 2) The turbo runs real
hot and sythetic oil is prone to get baked onto the turbo
        bearings, creating extra friction."

Now I know that the harder you work a rotary engine, the more oil
it tends to consume (by harder, I mean higher rev and heavier load).
But does using synthetic oil in any way increase this tendency?
Also, I don’t think sythetic oil is bad for turbos, am I right?

I got a slight suspicion that the guy was trying to BS me about the
car’s oil consumption problem.

Thanks for any insights.

Turning on Foglights (3000GT VR-4)

    I have a 3000GT VR-4, (if that matters… most cars’ headlights
are probably set up the same), and I want to be able to turn on the
fog lights without turning on the headlights, for those so-so days
that don’t really warrant the headlights.  (Besides, the foglights
look a lot ‘cooler’.  ;-)
Anyway, one day when I was changing a fuse, I took out the dome
light fuse, and I found that, if I turned my lights on before I put my
key in the ignition to start the car, just the fog lights would go on.
I could turn the lights off and back on and the headlights would pop up.
It only did this when the dome light fuse was out.  Does this damage
anything in any way, or would it be safe (if inconvenient) to utilize
this method?
   Thanx!

who can answer this?

I was wondering what is the best gas?

what is the best octane to use?

whats the difference between 89 92 93 94 octanes is it really noticable?

What is the best brand to use?

aren’t all gasolines the same or are there real differences?

what about the small stations that aren’t BIG name gas companies where do
they get their gas from?

Is their gas as good as the big boys?

Feedback on WindStar or Villager

I am considering between a Windstar or Villager/Quest Minivan. Since the
windstar is so new, does anyone on the net has any experience (good/bad)
with it? Also, any comments on the Villager or Quest is much appreciated.

Thanks

BEST CAR EVER MADE!

Let me refresh all you guys on what car is the GREATEST of ALL-TIME.  Need-
less to say it’s the ole 427 Cobras from Shelby.  There are NO cars that can
even compete with it since it is the most legendary car of all time.

New Jersey posts notices at each major road entering the state
that reads "Keep Right Except To Pass" which is occasionally
strictly enforced.  BTW, NJ also posts it at those points what
our speed limits are:  25 urban, 50 rural unless otherwise
posted (and urban is considered so if there are buildings
every few hundred feet from what I’ve been told).
